As reported in a recent edition of the New Scientist; a drug derived from the Horny Goats Weed plant may provide significant help for erectile dysfunction. Researchers are saying that the African herb may be more potent than current drugs and have less side effects.

Researchers started by investigating plants that had local reputations as libido enhancers. In the end, only Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium brevicornum) showed clinical effectiveness.

The active chemical produced by the plant, icariin, is naturally somewhat less powerful than existing erectile drugs; but the scientists produced a modified version of icariin that is at least just as strong.
